Overview of Palm Acid Oil
Palm acid oil (PAO) is a by-product obtained from the refining of palm oil. Palm Acid Oil specifications contain mainly of Free Fatty Acid (FFA) up to 50% and neutral oil, with 2-3% moisture and other impurities. It is similar to palm fatty acid distillate, however FFA is generally lower in palm acid oil compare to palm fatty acid distillate.
Manufacturing Process
Palm Acid Oil (PAO) is a byproduct derived from the refining of palm oil. Harvesting oil-rich palm fruits is the first step in the process, after which the oil is mechanically extracted. Sludge is produced during the refining process, which removes contaminants from the crude palm oil. Centrifugation is used to remove this unfavorable component-filled sludge in order to extract palm acid oil. Applications for PAO, a black, viscous liquid with a high content of free fatty acids, include bioenergy, animal feed, and soap manufacturing. Sustainable methods are being used by the palm oil industry more and more to solve social and environmental issues related to palm oil production.
